The Mt. St. Helens Club is southwest Washington’s oldest & favorite outing
club. Currently with 100 members & growing, the club schedules hikes
(almost) every Monday and (almost) every Saturday year round. During
the winter, hikes are often replaced by x-country skiing & snowshoeing.
Other outdoor activities include biking, camping, canoeing and picnicking.
Monday hikes are Easy to Moderate: (3 to 7 miles & less than 1000 elevation)
Saturday hikes are Moderate to Difficult (5 to 12 miles & over 1000 elevation).

Caring for someone with memory loss? Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support groups provide a consistent and caring place for people to learn, share and gain emotional support from others who are also on a unique journey of providing care to a person with dementia. Recognizing that some caregivers find it challenging to access traditional support groups, the Chapter has launched a telephone support group that offers the benefits of a traditional face-to-face support group without the need to leave home. The toll-free teleconference group is held the third Tuesday of each month, from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m., and facilitated by Barbara Bridges, RN, MSN. Elizabeth King, is displaying a series of minimalist-like experimental, figurative, paintings.
Elizabeth paints these experimental, paintings, because she values the music that exists in delicate human
existence and the natural materials, dictate it's own evolving direction. Elizabeth Kings experimental paintings,
indicate conceptual reeds, by the use of contoured figures, playing the flute, and symbolized, by the use of
paper musical scores, and notes, in her underpainting, and by the use of organic materials that present the art
of the flute, in her pallet, of silver, iridescent, bright and natural earth colors.

For those who whish to experience our Lewis Coutny roots, you will enjoy the variety of cattle, tree and agricultural farms on this year's tour. Start with the Newauckum Valley Ranch which is a working cattle ranch whose owners support our local farmers and 4-H projects. Have milk and cookies with the Dairy Ambassador of Lewis COunty while enjoying country music. Delight in a Tree Farm with spectular views and a huge barn in which the second story is converted into the owner's home. Visitors will also enjoy blue grass music and a tour of the owner's personal saw mill, as well as a ride on a wagon pulled by draft horses. Next to the Curtis store is a home that has been wonderfully restored after the 2007 flood. This farmer hosts an amzaing agricutlural organic farm and has just finished renovating their barn which is on the national historic registry. You will be able to sample his wonderful produce that is available to be delievered to your home once a week. Visitors will also stroll through a country manor that has been extensively updated on the exterior and is owned by a gentleman who is an artist in concrete curbing. End the tour at Chehalis's historic 1907 Martha and John Black home. This home features three stories with a bay shaped staircase with 28 steps. Sorry, but these homes are not handicapped accessible but there is plently to see. Where shoes that are easy to slip off and on, or easy to put surgical booties over. Walter King, president of the Foundation notes, "While those who are attending are finding inspriation and enjoyment from touring the farms, by the purchase of their tickets, theay are also helping home health and hospice patients--some of the most vulnerable people in our community. We hope everyone will join us again this year." Because this is a fundraising event, all ticket sales are final.

This summer many of Washington and Oregon’s 26,000 foster kids will outgrow or wear out their clothing, and it’s not always easy for foster families to keep up with their sprouting kids’ material needs. Having new clothing that fits properly is crucial to a child’s self-esteem, which is integral to their success in life. In an effort to help, Sleep Country USA is holding it’s annual Clothing Drive for Foster Kids.

WHERE: Donations of new clothing items, such as shirts, dresses, pants, shorts, onesies, and socks can be made at any Sleep Country USA store.
The store hours are M-F 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Donations will be distributed among 20 Pacific Northwest foster care organizations.
