club. Currently with 100 members & growing, the club schedules hikes
(almost) every Monday and (almost) every Saturday year round. During
the winter, hikes are often replaced by x-country skiing & snowshoeing.
Other outdoor activities include biking, camping, canoeing and picnicking.
Monday hikes are Easy to Moderate: (3 to 7 miles & less than 1000 elevation)
Saturday hikes are Moderate to Difficult (5 to 12 miles & over 1000 elevation).

The Monticello Camera Club meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Dining room of the Somerset retirement apartments.
During this meeting we will be judging prints and electronic images from our club members.
Digital and film photographers of all ages and skill levels are invited to join, dues are $10 annually. Feel free to come and just sit in on a meeting for free. As a club we hold regular photo competitions in all formats, Print, digital, and slides. We are currently planning some photography outings and some workshops so beginning and intermediate photographers can learn from the "more experienced."

CASTLE ROCK FAIR AND PARADE - JULY 17, 18. 19, 2008
The parade will be July 17th and it officially opens the Castle Rock Fair festivities! Line up starts at 5pm at the Castle Rock Grade School on Huntington Avenue. Judging at 5:45pm and the parade starts at 6:30pm. The route will be Huntington Avenue (at school) north to Cowlitz Street, west on Cowlitz Street, south onto Second Avenue, east onto B Street and then south onto Front Avenue. (Same route as last year) Participants can be judged in the following categories: walking, band, antiques, bike, floats, horses and marching. Get your group together and join the fun!!

St.Helens Festival back by popular demand!
Following on from last year’s inaugural event, the St.Helens Festival is back by popular demand on 5th and 6th July.
The largest event in this year’s Council calendar, the Festival is being held at Sherdley Park and will open from 12 noon daily.
Spread over two days, the free Festival (which replaced the St.Helens Show) will celebrate the Borough’s rich cultural heritage and wealth of talent through a packed programme which includes music, sport, arts, culture and much more.
St.Helens Festival also gives business’ the opportunity to trade and exhibit their products in a parkland setting offering prime outdoor retail space.
The Music Pavilion will host some of the best music and bands that the region has to offer, with support from The Citadel Arts centre, St.Helens Music Net and St.Helens Musicians Collective. Including The Lancashire Hotpots confirmed as the headline act for Sunday 6th July.
Other attractions with a ‘fun for all’ theme include Children’s World with donkey rides, inflatable’s, entertainers; a Main Arena with live stunt shows; Sports Quarter; Country and Heritage; Classic Cars and a fairground to name just a few.
